GenNext is excited to announce that we will be hosting a series of 8 workshops called ‘On the Menu: (Topic / Theme) – once a month, May until December!

Join us every 3rd Wednesday of the month as we will be focusing on a different topic and theme for each one! All workshops will feature a variety of keynote speakers – exciting and game-changing professionals in our community who you will want to hear from!

Participate in this 60 minute session, learn and gain new insight on several topics, ask our experts questions you have been wanting the answers to, and feel energized and connected.

Theme / Topic: From Garden, To Table – our Keynote Speakers will be taking you on a virtual ‘field trip’ through the back yard and surrounding areas (as long as weather permits). Then, you’ll have the chance to participate in a live ‘light lunch’ cooking demo – using ingredients that you can find in your own backyard and garden!

Keynote Speakers:

Rena Viehbeck, Education Coordinator from Lakehead Region Conservation Authority will share some preliminary info on exploring the outside and conservation areas, and what to bring with you on your adventure. She will take a dive into identifying common species, interesting facts and touching on a few foraging options.

Erin Beagle, Executive Director from Roots to Harvest will be broadcasting from the garden, greenhouse, and beehive area! She will be sharing information on types of plants and food items that you can grow in our very own Thunder Bay & area. Join us to hear all her tips, tricks, and techniques with gardening and green-housing, the time of year to start, and so much more!

Rhonda Bill, Owner and Chef Extraordinaire of A Fine Fit Catering & Consulting will be bringing you along on a culinary journey. Follow along as she demos and teaches you step by step how to build a nutritional and delicious light lunch – using ingredients you can find in your garden!
