Giving To The Future – GenNext & Youth 4 Community

On November 9th, ninety people got “Quizzical” about all things ’90s and 2000s at the GenNext trivia night “Let’s Get Quizzical”. $3,300 was raised, and bragging rights went to 1st Place winners, Hollar at a Scholar (Scholar’s Education). Despite their cheeky name, they did know a thing or two, and We Know Nothing landed in 2nd place. 3rd Place was claimed by the Trivia Newtons Johns as they sang their way into our hearts.

Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, Brad Bruce of RBC Royal Bank; Emcee Laura Zaina (91.5 CKPR); Venue Sponsor Sleeping Giant Brewery; and Food Sponsor Domino’s Pizza – James Street; our many prize sponsors; GenNext Volunteers; and of course all the amazing teams who made the night so much fun!

This year, all proceeds raised from this event will support the United Way’s Youth 4 Community Fundraising & Granting Initiative. (Y4C). From October – December each year, participating local high schools come together to host different fundraisers in each of their schools to raise money for this initiative.

These funds are reserved solely for youth programs, services, and projects that are carried out by local registered charitable organizations in Thunder Bay. The Y4C program works within the United Way Focus Area:  “All that Kids Can Be” and agencies can use the funding to focus in one or more of the following youth priority areas: Recreation and Neighbourhood youth hubs; Anti-Racism and Discrimination and Youth Involvement/Leadership.

Y4C was developed to bring youth leaders from the local high schools together to learn more about philanthropy, project management, and decision making and create awareness of issues and challenges that are being experienced by the youth here in Thunder Bay.

GenNext is pleased to support Youth 4 Community through their Let’s Get Quizzical Event

We are pleased to recognize the following schools who have registered to show their local love through the Y4C program this year:

Y4C Project Funding Application forms will be available at www.uwaytbay.ca in January 2019.
