Urgent Situation for United Way of Thunder Bay Campaign

Lagging donations have resulted in an unanticipated $100,000 shortfall in the United Way of Thunder Bay campaign. Jim Madder, the 2015 Campaign Chair notes this loss will be difficult to recoup without help.

Without these crucial donations over 1,200 local people are at risk of not getting the help they so desperately need in the coming year.  Imagine the frightened woman seeking support to escape a violent domestic situation, the hungry student who relies on receiving a  nutritious breakfast that he can’t get at home, or the family facing tragedy and loss who will need counselling to recover and rebuild.

United Way of Thunder Bay is leading the way to a better community by improving the quality of life for all local people. By collaborating with community partners, we are leading the way to addressing social issues in our community and investing in three critical areas: Poverty, Kids and Strong Communities. Donations to the United Way are strategically invested across Thunder Bay to many vital programs and initiatives in these areas, creating a social safety net that works to achieve lasting change for our neighbours, families and friends.
