United Way Appoints New President, Board of Directors and Executive Committee

Mike Belliveau began his term as President of the United Way of Thunder at the organization’s Board of Directors Meeting on Monday June 29, 2015.

Mike, who is originally from Amherst, Nova Scotia, has lived in Thunder Bay since 1987 when he arrived to manage the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund, and is currently employed as Innovation Officer at Industry Canada - Fed Nor.

He has been involved with the United Way of Thunder Bay for over twenty years and in that time has served on a number of its committees including: Executive, Personnel, Campaign Team, Community Capacity Building, and Nishwaaswi Committee.

As President of the United Way Board of the Directors, Mike strives to make a contribution to our community in an area of strategic need, and believes that “effort generates results”, a philosophy he feels will serve him well in this role.

Mike and his wife Darlene have twin sons, David and Craig. They also have three grandchildren and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their fourth.

Meet the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

United Way of Thunder Bay is leading the way to a better community by improving the quality of life for all local people. By collaborating with community partners, we are leading the way to addressing social issues in our community and investing in three critical areas: Poverty, Kids and Strong Communities. Donations to the United Way are strategically invested across Thunder Bay to many vital programs and initiatives in these areas, creating a social safety net that works to achieve lasting change for our neighbours, families and friends.
